in Fillers, Skin Care

Fillers can make a huge difference in your appearance. From filling in the hollows under the eyes to plumping up tired-looking lips, they can be used to target problem areas and enhance your natural beauty. But with so many different filler options available, how can you choose which one is right for you?

Here is a brief overview of some of the most popular types of fillers available today. Learn what makes these fillers different from each other and how to choose the right one for your cosmetic goals.

Juvederm

Juvederm is an ideal treatment for minimizing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Its active ingredient is hyaluronic acid, which is a substance naturally found in the human body. Unfortunately, as we age, we produce less hyaluronic acid. This substance helps increase moisture, improve skin flexibility and elasticity, and retain collagen.

Juvederm filler helps plump the areas to which it is applied. It acts a bit like a sponge and attracts water to the area. Once applied, Juvederm can deliver skin-plumping benefits for up to 12 months. Juvederm is typically applied to the lips for added volume and to the areas directly around the mouth (where you’re most likely to develop deep parentheses lines).

Juvederm can be reversed with hyaluronidase, though you’re unlikely to want a reversal once you see the incredible results this product can offer you.

Volbella XC

Volbella XC can correct lip lines and improve lip fullness for up to 12 months. It is a smooth, soft gel that softens the appearance of lines around the mouth while adding subtle volume to the lips themselves. This product is the longest-lasting lip filler that is FDA-approved. Once you receive this filler, you can expect it to last up to 12 months.

Voluma

Voluma can instantly add volume and shape to the cheek area. If you want to look up to five years younger, this is a good filler to try. It can restore a contoured appearance to the face without the trauma or cost of surgery. Voluma is made with a modified hyaluronic acid. It comes from a complex sugar and is FDA-approved.

Results of Voluma injections are instantly visible. For most people, the effects last up to two years.

Choosing the Right Filler for Your Needs

Newport Medical and Wellness Center offers each of the above popular filler types. If you still need help deciding which one is right for you, we will happily assist you.

To recap what the various fillers are for, Juvederm is most commonly used around the mouth, as is Volbella XC. Juvederm can also be used around the eyes to minimize the appearance of fine lines. Voluma, on the other hand, is ideal for adding volume to the cheeks and achieving a more contoured appearance. Voluma is the longest-lasting filler (up to 2 years), with Volbella and Juvederm each lasting up to 12 months).

Treatment costs vary from $550 per syringe to $800 per syringe. You may need one to two syringes per treatment, depending on the size of the area you want to treat.
